BGS celebrates fifth Golf Day in aid of the Bursary Fund

Bury Grammar School celebrated their fifth Golf Day in aid of the BGS Bursary Fund at Rochdale Golf Club on Friday 13th September.

Sixteen teams made up of BGS staff and pupils, Old Boys, Governors, parents, grandparents and friends of the School celebrated a sunny day of golf.

The Golf Day was dedicated to Peter Stock, a parent and grandparent of BGS pupils, who had passed away suddenly the previous week, and was due to play in the event. Peter was a huge supporter of the School and contributed so generously to both bursaries and the Boys’ Sports Development. At the ‘Awards Dinner’ tributes were paid to Peter in speeches and in the event programme.

The first prize was awarded to Full Circle Print whilst Carrington Textiles were runners-up. Many people donated auction and tombola prizes and bid high for the fabulous auction prizes.

The day raised over £23,000 towards the Bursary Fund, including generous donations in Peter’s name.

We pass on our deepest condolences to Peter’s family.

A big thank you to everyone who supported the Golf Day.
