What an incredible concert we held on Monday evening! For those of you who attended (and there were many of you), I am sure that you will agree that the singing, acting and performing, was of the highest calibre. What impressed me more than anything, was the sheer enjoyment on the faces of the boys. They genuinely love standing up and giving their all in front of an audience. Congratulations to all of the boys and staff for the parts that they played in making our Christmas Concert such an enjoyable and memorable event.
The festivities did not stop there, as I was invited to attend the Pre-School, Reception and Year 1/2 concerts in the Infants – all of which were wonderful examples of how our youngest pupils are growing in confidence whilst at BGS.
Year 6 enjoyed a fabulous sing-a-long with Mr Nicholson in Senior School. The annual karaoke event makes most grown adults cry (or at least cower in the shadows of the hall) but Mr Nicholson is adept at searching out these poor souls to have a microphone pinned under their nose. The Year 6 boys were not exempt and joined in with a fantastic sing-song (along with myself, Miss Allen and Mr Sheikh). I am pretty sure the X-Factor beckons for none of us!
The choir were out singing at The Rock in Bury on Tuesday lunchtime. A large crowd gathered for what was a wonderful selection of classics and Christmas favourites. My favourite comment from a passer-by who stopped to watch and listen, “Listen to that. It’s wonderful. They must be from Bury Grammar.”
We all took part in the carol service on Wednesday morning and I was impressed by our Junior School reader, Freddie Woodhouse, as well as the Senior School vocalists, many of whom were ex-Junior School boys. Well done!
Then of course it was Panto time! The boys had a fabulous afternoon of enjoyment, shouting and singing. The staff certainly knew that the panto had been in!
And there it is. Merry Christmas, Everybody’s been having fun. We look to the future now… it’s only just begun!
Have a wonderful festive break and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday 8th January.
