Continuing our work on the WW1 battlefields as part of our humanities topic, the boys were set the tasking of recreating battle maps on their table tops.
Using all available materials, boys created and labelled rivers, fortified towns and key battlefields.
Practical mapping is a great way to understand not only how maps work but also how important it is to understand scale and detail.
Chanukah Show and Tell
Year 3 were treated to a fascinating RS lesson about Chanukah by Max this week. He shared how he celebrates the Jewish festival and showed the boys his homemade Chanukah book and menorah. We then learned how to play Dreidels and how to read the symbols on them before playing the game together.
This week, Year 6 have investigated a number of artefacts, writing about what they have found in their Humanities book whilst making scientific observations.
Year 5 have been studying the art of cryptography this half term. They have used various ciphers and this week had a go at creating their own. There was a lot of head-scratching initially, but they can now call themselves master code-breakers!
