Science outside

This week, Year 6 took the opportunity to take our lesson outside. After drawing around our partners, the pupils then used sticky notes to attach facts about each of our organs to the life-sized diagrams.

Year 4 - May Gala

In preparation for the May Gala, 4 Royal have created jungle collages. Starting with sheets of coloured paper, they cut and ripped them into different sizes. Once the jungle foliage and scene was set, they then added detail of jungle animals, insects or birds, and the array of colourful flowers. We linked it our Science work on habitats and protecting the environment.

Continuing our Allotment topic, the boys got their hands dirty and made some scrap planets. Tin cans, water bottles and even the odd Wellington boot were repurposed as handy planters for spinach and coriander. Let’s hops some green fingers will mean we have a bumper crop this season.

Year 6 boys went Science mad this week as art of their Blood Heart topic. From CSI style chalk bodies, complete with internal organs, on the play ground to a fantastic session in the Senior School science labs with Mr Watts. Here the boys were able to watch a dissection of an cow's heart and as well as examining a sheep's lungs. This was a fantastic opportunity to stretch the boys' learning and a big thanks must go to the Senior School biology department.

The U11 football team played their league semi final on Monday against a strong St. Mary's side, losing 6-0 to the eventual winners of the whole competition. The boys can be proud of reaching the semi-final stage for a second successive season and can now look forward to their cup semi-final after half term.

Well done to Rocco G in Year 6 who won a silver medal at the Greater Manchester County Athletics Championships over the weekend in the U13 boys 200m.

A feat made even more impressive due to the fact that he is still in his first year competing as an U13 athlete at the age of 11!

Water Polo

Well done to Sammy and Ethan from Year 5 and Benji from Year 3 who competed in the City of Chester Waterpolo tournament at the weekend.

Playing for Radcliffe 10 and under, they won all 4 matches undefeated!
