Sammy's Swimming Success
Huge congratulations go to Sammy who swam in the Salford Open Swimming gala on Sunday for Ramsbottom Rascals swimming club.
He achieved 2 silvers and a bronze swimming a year above his age group.
Sammy also achieved the Lancashire qualifying time for 50m freestyle and is currently ranked as 6th fastest 9-year-old in the UK for this event and the fastest in Lancashire and the North West for 200m freestyle, 100m back stroke and 50m butterfly.
Wow! Well done, Sammy!
Wow! What a wonderfully musical week we have had! The boys have worked so hard to produce their concerts with all boys singing and playing their percussion pieces. Solos included… ‘Cello, drumkit, flute, guitar, piano, table, trumpet, viola, violin, saxophone and voice and who could possibly forget ‘The Goozaks;’ the new boys band from year 5 that are going to take the world by storm!
The Spring Concerts are always a celebration of the boys’ musical talents. Some boys have been playing violin for years, whilst others have only had 3 lessons! What a celebration we have enjoyed this week!
Watch our Year 6 singing ‘Imagine’ – there were many tears shed from the audience!
Watch Year 6 Burgundy play ‘Jingle Jangle Jungle’ on their percussion instruments
Year 5 York Assembly
The culmination of our fantastic York residential trip was an Assembly for parents all about our experiences. The Boys have written recounts that they used for the Assembly as well as creating some excellent persuasive posters encouraging others to stay at the York YHA. It was a great experience for all the boys, which not only widened their understanding of British history but also helped them to develop the life skills and friendship bonds which will carry them through into Year 6.
YHA...all the way!
Across Year 5, we have used our experiences in York to write an engaging recount and also to create posters advertising the YHA. We analysed posters to understand their key features, wrote copy and then assembled our posters. The atmosphere was very Madison Avenue (Mad Men) as we threw around taglines, created snappy sentences and as always, met our deadlines!
