As part of their opening to the new topic, Frozen Kingdom, Year 6 were given a series of tasks to complete following an ice theme.
They compared how salt had an effect upon ice and how it could be use to alter the freezing point of water, and use string to ‘magically’ pick it up.
They used their ice to also discuss density, beginning to recognise why ice floats.
After this, they designed their own igloos, using their own glue made from icing sugar and water, creating a paste to stack together their sugar cube building blocks.
The boys can’t wait to see which ones can pass the test next week of an Inuit (aka Mr Leg O’Man) being able to walk in and out safely.
