The BGS Choral Society recently performed an Easter concert at Bury Parish Church.
The performance consisted of Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’ and Faure’s ‘Requiem’, both very ambitious choral works that they have been preparing since September.
Each piece allowed them to develop our choral skills, singing in four-part harmony. Soloists were also able to exhibit their talents through a series of famous arias contained within these works.
Charlotte Carter, Dan Pockney, Lucy Jackson, Elizabeth Drake, Lauren Chadwick, Madeline Osborne, Amelia Ealing, Hannah Riley, Jenna Roach, Alice Robins, Kaya Williams and Mason Woods are all to be congratulated for their beautiful solos.
The whole concert sounded wonderful in the surroundings of the Parish Church, which has such historic and important links with BGS.
The Choral Society combines choirs from the Girls and Boys Schools as well as staff, alumni and supporters of the school. The School would like to thank these guests for their contributions to the choir throughout the year.
Thanks must go to Miss Britton, the whole music department and church organist Elin Rees without who they would not have been able to achieve their high level of performance.
The Choral Society will next perform on Founders’ Day when they will be singing at 8am Communion and the morning service. This will sadly be the last performance for Year 13 choir members, but they are very much looking forward it.
