Bury Grammar School appoints a new Head of Girls’ Junior School and Infant School

Bury Grammar School is delighted to announce that Mrs Chrissy Howard has been appointed Head of the Girls' Junior School and Infant School.

Mrs Howard was the unanimous choice of the School’s Governors after excelling in several senior roles in recent years.

Mrs Howard has a long-standing commitment to Bury Grammar School, having joined the School fourteen years ago and progressed to the role of Assistant Head of the Boys’ Junior School in 2013. She guided the Boys’ Junior School through a period of significant change as Acting Head in 2014-15 and became Deputy Head (Curriculum) of the Girls’ Junior School and Infant School last year.

Mrs Howard has consistently embraced the much-loved traditions of the School and she is BGS through and through. She is well liked and respected and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the key areas of curriculum and pastoral care, as well as having outstanding leadership and inter-personal skills. Having previously been a Director of a Day Nursery, she is also well placed to guide our youngest children, and her expertise in coaching netball and athletics allow her to contribute significantly to the wider life of the School.

Mrs Howard has grown up in Bury and lives locally in the Rossendale Valley. Her two daughters attended Bury Grammar School throughout their school life.

Mrs Howard said: "I am so excited to have been given this opportunity to lead the school into a new period of success. I am committed to delivering a forward thinking strategic vision for the whole School, whilst upholding the traditions and ethos of Bury Grammar School Girls. I am thrilled to have the privilege of leading this School."
