We recognise that happy pupils learn best and so there is an important place for Personal, Social and Health Education. This is a quite extraordinary range and combination of subjects to inspire our youngest minds!
There is an emphasis on establishing firm foundations in English and Mathematics in order to give our pupils the edge in every area of their learning.
We offer an enriching and creative literacy curriculum with outstanding opportunities for all learners. The key to our success is that we have the highest expectations for everyone. Those who have real linguistic gifts will flourish, as will those for whom English is an additional language and those whose talents lie elsewhere. A friendly approach and supportive environment mean that every child should thoroughly enjoy their English lessons!
We want every pupil to really enjoy learning Mathematics. Our curriculum has been developed to ensure in-depth understanding and playful enjoyment - both key to helping children reason mathematically. Our qualified staff enable all children to develop mastery and to succeed in maths – a subject where we know confidence is everything.
One area which makes us distinct from other Infant Schools is that we have specialist teachers who deliver Music, PE & Games and Swimming. This, along with our extensive range of extra-curricular activities delivered by experts in their field, means that our children are well equipped from an early age. Across the curriculum the children are encouraged to participate at every level and enjoy the adventure of learning.
From their earliest years, our pupils are encouraged to think independently and make effective use of the excellent resources available here, such as the well-equipped computer suite, interactive whiteboards and our extensive library.
Teaching is supported by a full programme of visits, workshops and educational talks and our talented teachers work closely with each child, helping them to set learning objectives and encouraging them to develop the confidence to explore concepts, talk about their learning and reflect on their progress.
You’re never too young to learn to be a leader!
As our children grow in confidence, they become more fully involved in the life of the school, playing key roles in assemblies, performances, charity events, sports day and out of school activities.
We are very proud for them to show the world what they can do!
