Final meeting held for local Science Cluster

Teachers from two secondary schools and five primaries met up on Thursday 5th July in our final meeting of our local Science Cluster.

Led by Leigh Hoath from the University of Manchester we evaluated the progress the science partnership had made over the last two years.

Mrs Lewis also hosted a practical workshop on the Science of Sweets where teachers created DNA, investigated osmosis with Haribo bears and measured the speed of light with chocolate.

The other session involved a discussion about Year 7 science and how primary staff can aid with the transition to the further study of Biology, Chemistry and Physics as well as answering some frequent questions such as 'Why is the sky blue?' and common misconceptions.

All involved had a really useful day and valued working together in this way.
