The Year 2 children were took centre stage this week firstly with the Swimming Gala and then with transition afternoon.
It was certainly a tense event, both classes dug deep and swam with skill and sheer determination. It is great to see that the children held their nerve as such competitions can be nerve wracking and physically challenging. The outcome was a draw and both teams were satisfied that their hard work had paid off.
On Thursday afternoon the boys went to the Junior Boys’ School for a ‘Baddies and Barristers’ induction afternoon. The boys were looking forward to seeing their new environment and meeting the new staff. Needless to say they had a fun filled afternoon whilst solving a startling crime… The girls on the other hand were invited to ‘Afternoon Tea’ and a dance competition. Mrs Aylin said how delightful the girls had been showing real interest about the work the girls complete in Year 3. As they were leaving the girls were excitedly chatting about things to come. A good day was had by all.
I was pleased to hear how courageous the Year 6 girls had been on their recent adventure to Low Bank. Such outdoor education opportunities are a great experience and the girls benefit hugely from venturing on activities they may otherwise get the opportunity to do or indeed improve on their skills. Being away from home in a safe environment with caring staff also build character. It is so important to encourage our children to push boundaries, take brave steps to adventures new and so learn how to adapt and become more independent. Very well done girls.
The Enormous Turnip assembly delivered by the amazing vocalists in 1N was truly outstanding this morning. They raised the roof! The children talked about team work which is a real focus of ours and they certainly worked as a team performing an entertaining and informative assembly. Well done 1N.
