Hockey - 2018/19 Report

All of our hockey teams had a fantastic season with some good results against some strong opposition.

The Year 10 & 11 teams finished as runners-up in both the Bury League and the Bury Rally. They fought some hard battles in certain games but showed great determination and sportsmanship throughout.

Year 9 had a fantastic Rally, beating last year’s winners and sadly only losing the title on goal difference and remained undefeated in the league.

Year 8 girls have demonstrated increasing levels of commitment and resolve throughout the season, improving significantly throughout the year and they were awarded for this effort with a final match victory against Woodhey.

What an enthusiastic bunch of Year 7s arrived at our doors in September. A wonderful set of girls, keen to get involved in school life and represent the school.

They have worked tirelessly throughout the year in what can only be described as ‘all sorts of weather’! After several friendly fixtures and practising regularly with the Year 8s, their experience was pivotal in securing a victory in the Bury Rally.

With an attacking philosophy, strong and unwavering defence and superb goalkeeping BGS forced over 16 short corners in the tournament.

Well done to the Year 7 team: Lola F, Samantha J, Claudia T, Madeleine G, Katie R, Sophie L, Louisa Y, Tolulope A, Katie B

Congratulations to all the hockey players, we are immensely proud of you and we look forward to seeing all these girls develop over the next few years.
