I write my weekly newsletter piece whilst watching a group of Year 4 children whizz up and down a climbing wall at Robinwood Activity Centre in Todmorden. Watching the boys and girls from BGS conquer their fears and face new challenges, all whilst having copious amounts of fun, reminds me just what an important role residentials play in the growth and development of so many skills and attributes. I am proud of the boys for their endeavours but also of the staff for their enduring patience, enthusiasm and dedication to their roles. A full account and a collection of photographs will be found in the further news section next week. The boys’ assembly will also run next Friday for parents with an 8.45am start.
When you speak about eclectic weeks, this has most certainly been one! On top of being at Robinwood, Mrs Howard and myself travelled to Chester Zoo on Tuesday, to attend the AJIS Heads’ meeting. And then yesterday, we were warmly invited to attend a very special event at Peter Jackson’s Jewellers in Bury. Accompanied by some very excited children, we were able to view one of only two replicas of the Crown Jewels in the United Kingdom. Boys and girls were given the opportunity to wear crowns, tiaras and jewellery made famous being worn by a variety of royals. Our sincere thanks to Peter Jackson’s Jewellers for a remarkable visit that will live long in the memory. Spoiler alert: Look out for Meghan Markle wearing a tiara made famous by being worn by Princess Diana!
There have been lots of other exciting goings on in the Junior School this week and I urge you to take a look at the further news section to find out what’s been happening!
Enjoy the weather this weekend.
