House Music Competitions held on final day of Autumn term

The annual Bury Grammar School House Music Competitions were held on the final day of the Autumn term on Wednesday.

In the Girls' School, the four houses; Kitchener, Lester, Neild and Perigo competed in three categories: Solo Performers, Sixth Form Groups and Whole House Song.

In the solo performances, Sophie and Katie B (Kay) performed If I aint got you, Zara K and Kate P (Lester) performed Castle On A Cloud, Alice R (Neild) performed Singing and Evie S (Perigo) performed Hallelujah.

The Sixth Form group performance were Perigo Penguins (Perigo), Jungle Bell Rock (Neild), We Are In This Together (Lester) and Thank u next (Kay).

The competition concluded with the Whole House Song. Lester performed Don't Stop Believing, Perigo performed This Is Me, Kay performed Somebody to Love and Neild performed Power Ballad Medley.

The judging panel included Mrs Anderson, Mrs Campion, Mrs Newbold and Mrs Fielden, and Sound and Music was provided by sixth formers Amelia L, Alex D, Jasmine T and Ella D-C.

The overall winners of the Senior Girls' School competition were Neild, and Miss Imtiaz opened with a skit from the Greatest Showman with the help of girls from Year 11.

In the Boys' Senior School competition, the four houses; Derby, Howlett, Hulme and Kay performed renditions of Christmas songs. Headmaster Mr Cassidy judged Derby as the overall winners.

The performances were complimented by Mr Nicholson, who led further renditions of Christmas Carols, encouraging the pupils and staff to join in.
