With The Apprentice back on our screens it seemed only appropriate that we put our Year 13 students through their paces...
This Wednesday saw every single Year 13 afforded the opportunity to have a one-on-one interview. The interviews were conducted by visitors who were invited to the school by our Head of Careers, Mrs Taylor.
Interviewers included representatives from the University of Lancaster, Old Boys and Old Girls, Governors, parents of current students and other friends of the school. The focus of the interviews ranged from Oxbridge applications to medicine, dentistry, the law, business, the creative industries and many more.
We count ourselves very fortunate to be able to call on the assistance of so many who count themselves as friends of Bury Grammar School and we are incredibly grateful to all those who gave up their time for our students. All who were interviewed will have gained a huge amount from the experience with all interviewers providing personalised feedback that personal tutors will disseminate to Year 13.
Many students will face interviews as they apply to university, apprenticeships or jobs over the coming months but even for those who will not, the experience and the feedback provided will be invaluable. Sharing lunch with our guests I was incredibly proud as they spoke in glowing terms of the students, with my favourite comment coming being “she was absolutely fantastic, very impressive. I’d hire her tomorrow.”
