What's been happening in the Infant School - 18/01/2019

Reception have been thinking about ‘one more and one less’ and using the language of ‘more’ and ‘fewer’ in maths lessons. One of our activities involved trying to throw little balls into numbered pots. When the children were successful they then said which number was one more than the number on the pot and also which number was one less. The children are continually making sense of the world around them and enjoy using their counting skills to quantify and organise things. Their strong sense of fairness means they are experts on who has more and who has less.

Year 1

In English this half term the children are looking at Fairy Tales: listening and responding to the stories then re-telling them in their own words. This week we have been studying ‘Mary and the Twelve Months’. The children have worked together sequencing the story and writing sentences about it. A copy of the eBook is available for the Year 1 children to share with their parents, on ‘Active Lear

Year 2

This week in Year 2 we have been busy scientists!

We have been looking at absorbency. The children have been learning all about creating a hypothesis, making sensible predictions, ensuring fair tests and considering how to record results. The children loved carrying out their experiments and made some fabulous observations.
