Languages club appears to becoming more and more popular each week as we enjoyed welcoming more new members. In addition to rehearsing for our role in the Christmas concert, it was games week as our fabulous German Assistant Nadine had brought in a game for us to play. How much fun can boys have in just 40 minutes?
Year 5 - Going round in circles!
This week Year 5 have quite literally going round in circles. From measuring acute, obtuse and reflex angles to learning the key parts of a circle and even solving circle problems, we are getting quite dizzy with the facts.
Year 5 - Getting in the Christmas Spirit
To support the ‘Winter Wonderland’ event on Thursday 7 December, boys across the school have been making fantastic Christmas decorations. We had some wonderful ones in Year 5 and they really helped to remind us that Christmas is only around the corner.
Awesome Egyptians at Manchester Museum
Year 3 impressed on their humanities trip this week – in fact, they almost knew as much as the Egyptologist who took them for a workshop. The boys handled artefacts that ranged from three to five thousand years old (wow!), met Asru the mummy and built their very own pyramid. They even had time to go exploring and met a T-Rex called Stan, before discovering the vivarium, where they made friends with some exotic frogs and sand lizards.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make our book fair a roaring success. It was extremely busy every night and it is such a delight to see the boys so engaged and excited about reading. It will be back at the start of March to celebrate World Book Day, see you there!
Our junior boys (Ewan and Jai, in Year 6) have reached the second round of the maths competition held at the Explore Learning Centre, where they have competed against many schools. On Wednesday 29 November, Ewan and Jai competed against four other schools within the competition, solving a variety of number puzzles. Well done boys for your perseverance and working with the Girls’ Junior School to represent Bury Grammar School.
