Boys of the Week
Congratulations to the following boys who received Boy of the Week this week:
Year 3 Gold – Rayaan Ahmed, for excellent work in his assessments this week.
Year 4 Royal – Harry Jones, for starting SPaG… Ready quickly each day.
Year 4 Navy – Abdurrahman Malik, for excellent French number knowledge.
Year 5 Emerald – Harrison Blakelock, for an amazing self-confidence and enthusiasm in all lessons.
Year 5 Jade – Tom Greenwood, for an excellent effort in all his assessments.
Year 6 Burgundy –Freddie Woodhouse, for a determined attitude and effort in all areas of BGBS.
Year 6 Scarlet – Zayyan Hussain, for working conscientiously in all areas of the curriculum
The AJIS Swimming Championships took place last week with two of our boys bringing home Gold medals. Xuanming Guo (25m Butterfly) and Charlie Slade (25m Front Crawl) won their individual events. Both Ayaanali Kanji and Harrison Blakelock qualified from their heats, but were just outside the medal places in the final. Well done boys, a great effort all round.
Continuing our push for mathematical excellence in Year 5 Jade, three boys achieved their Diamond Maths badges. To achieve this, they needed to know their 7, 9 and 12 times tables including all the associated division facts. Instant recall of these key maths facts makes all the work we do in Year 5 much easier to understand. Help your boys by quizzing them (especially on the division facts) and encouraging them to use Times tables Rock Stars every day.
Led by the fabulous Nadine, the languages club boys have learned about the German tradition of St. Nikolaus and its significance in the run up to Christmas for German children. Something nice and edible may even have appeared in their shoes!
In year 5 Emerald we have been preparing ourselves for an imminent volcanic eruption by designing our own survival kits and creating emergency volcano survival posters. Hopefully now we are all well-prepared.
Not only did Year 3 enjoy decorating the school Christmas tree on December 1st this year, but also they were fortunate enough to visit the magical Winter Wonderland at the Infant School on Thursday morning. The boys got to meet (and tickle the nose of) one of Father Christmas’ very own reindeer, Snowflake. They also got to meet the man in red himself and told him all of their Christmas wishes.
Creative Writing Club
Our budding writers have been learning about ‘Flash Fiction’ over the last few weeks. This usually takes the form of studying an unusual photograph and coming up with an explanation in the form of a very quick short story. This week we studied the picture below and the boys came up with some excellent ideas –a big well done to all the budding writers in the group! What do you think happened to him?
